ABSTRACT

Although Rhodiola rosea is touted to be one of the safest herbs in popular literature, only a smattering of studies has been conducted, which can be used to support or refute the claim. In recent years, as the popularity of R. rosea has surged, the safety and potential risks for this herb to be involved in toxic interactions with drugs are beginning to receive more attention. Many gaps in understanding still remain, however. In the following review, the currently available information on R. rosea safety and toxicity is summarized and areas for follow-up are identied.
