ABSTRACT
Geothermal heat is the principal source of energy for the internal geologic processes of the earth. These mega-scale or global tectonic processes explain major geologic features of the earth, and are also basic to the formation of rocks and rock-forming minerals and aggregates. The strength and deformation behavior of rocks and sediments are two basic attributes of significance to the stability of slopes.
