ABSTRACT
Sustainability is steadily moving into mainstream building projects through the Building Regulations and other legislative controls. It is a particularly difficult area to cover as it is a relatively new topic, involving changes in public opinion as well as traditional construction industry practices. It is therefore difficult for the engineer to find good practice guidance beyond the minimum standards found in legislation and there are often no ‘right answers’.
