ABSTRACT
AWE applications are vast, ranging from providing power to villages in the developing world, where the massive cost of implementing an electrical grid and utility-grade power plants is prohibitive, to providing a means of auxiliary power to ships and offshore drilling platforms, where an ocean separates the platform or ship from a source of external power, to the remote industrial locations surrounded by rough terrain that makes transportation and installation of traditional electrical infrastructure impossible.
