The general techniques for determining individual pK values in proteins usually depend on NMR,1,2 absorption,3 or kinetic4 procedures. Effects of neighboring groups may be evident in chemical shift influences5-7 or in electrostatic influences on the hydrogen ion equilibria proper.8
