ABSTRACT
This chapter first identifies the required functions that should be performed at the border, such as security filtering and encryption or media conversion. It describes security measures (such as IPSec tunneling) to protect the IP network signaling and provide privacy and data integrity, and to enable address translation between private network addresses and public addresses and between different versions of IP. It also describes general firewall techniques used at the network edge, including Deep Network Inspection.
