ABSTRACT

A denial-of-service (DoS) attack is one in which an attacker uses multiple techniques to deny legitimate users access to a system or resource. This is generally done in one of two ways:

Crashing the resource or a particular requirement for access to the resource

Flooding the access so legitimate traffic is unable to reach it

DoS attacks are extremely common because they are so simple to carry out, and there is a wealth of ready-to-use tools available for script kiddies to download.
