ABSTRACT

The Open Systems Interconnection network model (OSI network model, also called the OSI seven-layer model) is a layered diagram designed to abstractly describe communications and computer network protocol. Although developed as part of the OSI initiative, it is mostly followed in the software industry and is defined by the International Organization for Standardization in ISO standard 7498-1. By the time the ISO Standard was written, TCP/IP had already been used for years.
