ABSTRACT
Now that we have started and organized the project, the second step in the process improvement effort is Process Identification. In this step, all the processes that are performed within the Information Systems organization will be identified. The following tasks will be completed:
Understand Area:
Gaining a good understanding of the entire Information Systems area, interviewing individuals and understanding current activities, tasks, inputs, and outputs
Identify Processes:
Identifying current processes that are utilized in the Information Systems organization, understanding the interfaces among the various processes
Document Description:
Describing each process to document the purpose, or why the process exists
Identify Benefits:
Identifying the benefits of having the process, determining if the process is necessary to have
Identify Issues:
Identifying high-level issues that currently exist with the process
These steps are shown in Figure 4.1. Each of these tasks will be discussed in more detail.
