ABSTRACT
Preop Intraoperative ultrasound should be requested. Bowel prep is not necessary. An
intravenous antibiotic for prophylaxis of surgical site infection (cefazolin, 1 g IV) is given 30 minutes before incision. A nasogastric (NG) tube and urinary cathether are placed after general anesthesia is induced. Pneumatic calf compression boots and/or low-dose subcutaneous heparin are used for deep vein thrombosis (DVT) prophylaxis according to patient risk profile.
