ABSTRACT

Indications Spontaneous, single duct, serous or bloody (or guiac positive) nipple discharge,

also described as pathologic nipple discharge. Such discharge is more likely to be related to intraductal neoplasia, either benign (papilloma) or malignant (duct carci noma in situ), particularly when it occurs in older women. In younger women, green, blue or yellow discharge is often nonspontaneous, expressible from several ducts, is caused by ductectasia and is rarely associated with significant pathology.
