Bitter principle of grapefruit and avonoid that is partly responsible, along with a related compound called naringenin, for grapefruit juice enhancing the bioavailability of certain medications.1
In laboratory studies, naringin exhibited antioxidant properties, inhibited tumor growth, and suppressed age-related blood pressure increases in hypertensive rats.2-4
