ABSTRACT
This chapter will consider the diseases affecting the teeth, the gingiva (gums) and the oral mucosa, since tumours of the mouth and the salivary glands and facial pain are covered in other chapters. However, where relevant, these latter topics will be briefly mentioned, since the oral cavity is often neglected within medical training.
