Chronic otitis media is a chronic inflammation of the mucosa and submucosa of the middle ear cleft, which may cause damage to the tympanic membrane and ossicles. Chapter 44 covers this condition as it relates to adult practice; the purpose of this chapter is to highlight specific issues relevant to children.
