Broadcast Encryption and Multicast Security

Multicast communication allows a sender to efficiently broadcast a message to a specific group of users. Sending a message to a group using unicast requires the sender to send an individual copy to each receiver, while using broadcast results in a copy to be sent to all the users instead of a specific group. These advantages of multicast have made it the preferred communication mode for group communication services such as broadcasting stock quotes, software updates, pay TV, etc.
