ABSTRACT
Kilovoltage x-rays have been used in radiotherapy from the earliest attempts at external
beam treatments. Their use has gradually diminished over the years because of the widespread
availability of high energy photons, and more recently, of electrons generated from high energy
linear accelerators. Nevertheless, kilovoltage x-rays still provide an important option in the
range of treatments available within many departments.
