ABSTRACT
Th e prevalence of both obesity and allergic sensitization continually increases in parallel in industrialized countries. An association between obesity and allergyrelated diseases has been reported in many studies, although considerable debate still exists about the existence and meaning of the association. Nevertheless, in general, obesity and weight gain have been associated with an increased risk of respiratory allergy.
