ABSTRACT

All living beings communicate in some form or another. Information is exchanged between individuals or groups through certain means, for example, movements, sound, reactions, and transformations. Usually, communication creates or shares information that conveys some meaning and helps to link people and places. It becomes a key function of management without which no system can perform, improve, or attain any height. According to the business dictionary, communication is a two-way process of reaching mutual understanding in which participants not only exchange information, news, or ideas but also create and share meaning (Business Dictionary 2014). In order to perpetuate living, the simplest to the most complex organisms communicate with their environment and other beings. This is termed as a critical function because it is very essential for the survival of living systems. The study and practice of how individuals, institutions, societies, and cultures receive, understand, and use message about environment and the human interaction with the environment is known as environmental communication. From the perspective of practice, this concept has been dened as the application of communication approaches, principles, and strategies to environmental management and protection (Flor 2004).
