ABSTRACT
Cotton ber has a dominant role in the apparel segment even though many alternative, regenerated cellulosic bers are available. Besides cellulose, cotton ber contains many constituents that perform certain designated functions during ber growth; inside the boll, such constituents are systematically eliminated in the fabric preparation process to facilitate dyeability and nishing and to avoid unwanted reactions in such operations.
