ABSTRACT
Annex B of API 650 provides important considerations for the design and construction of foundations for above ground storage tanks with a flat bottoms. However, because of a variety of factors such as surface, subsurface and climatic conditions, it is not possible to address all aspects pertaining to the design of different types of foundations in a comprehensive way. The allowable soil loading and type of subsurface construction are decided based on specific merits of individual cases.
