ABSTRACT

Computational Fluid Dynamics is often called the virtual wind tunnel. And while it offers much more than just a “testing facility” on the computer, its main use is certainly in the analysis of flow around a given design and there are clear analogies. There are a number of advantages of the virtual wind tunnel CFD over the physical wind tunnel: Cost: unless your company has enough flow experiments to run to afford

and occupy their own wind tunnel, it is typically much less expensive to perform a CFD simulation as compared to producing a model and testing it in a tunnel.
