ABSTRACT
Xenopus are ectotherms (cold-blooded) and are therefore not subject to oversight and regulations by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) according to the Animal Welfare Act (AWA). However, other agencies and organizations in the United States have oversight or accreditation responsibilities for programs that use Xenopus in teaching, research, or testing.
