ABSTRACT

Molecular reporter systems are molecular probes that enable speci›c detection of biochemical signatures in living cells or organisms with minimal interruption of native physiological processes. Unlike many areas of biomedical research where single specialties can drive new discoveries, biomedical imaging with molecular reporter systems, molecular imaging, incorporates diverse scienti›c and medical disciplines to solve biological problems. Currently, molecular imaging is accomplished by using various modalities that vary in spatial resolution and detection sensitivity.
