ABSTRACT

There are many ways for the project manager to use a variety of tools and techniques to make their project product and process, project team, office, organization, and themselves greener. We’re sure that many of you have thought about it. As stated in Section IV’s opening quote, what you finish is what counts. You’re not helping reduce your carbon footprint if you think about going to recycled paper in your office-only if you actually make the change. Realizing that this book is for the project managers of the world, one of the things we have tried to do with it is to save the valuable resource called “project manager” by researching and providing information on greening projects-so you can focus on your projects and take advantage of our research. We have defined some of the terms necessary and provided a road map for traversing a project and making that journey greener. The following is information we’ve collected along the way to help the project manager realize significant greenality on their projects. While certainly not exhaustive (there is enough information out there for several more books), these suggestions (tips, tools, and techniques) should make the project manager’s job a little easier. In Chapter 14 we will provide additional information in the form of Web sites, books, and articles for an even deeper dive into the world of green project management.
