ABSTRACT

This chapter addresses four key questions on the effects of pulsed electromagnetic eld (PEMF) as a potential therapy for treatment of tumorous cancers.

A number of published reports on the growth of cancerous tumors of various types exposed to PEMF are summarized in Table 19.1. All of these reports demonstrated signicant slowing of tumor growth when exposed to PEMF in the 0.8-120 Hz range using a variety of exposure conditions. None of these reports gave evidence of tumor shrinking (regression). Thus, the answer is that PEMF can be used to signicantly slow tumor growth, but there is no evidence that PEMF, used as the sole therapy, causes tumor shrinkage or regression.
