ABSTRACT

The presence of bidobacteria in the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) of humans has stimulated a lot of interest among bacteriologists and nutritionists. Bidobacteria coexist in the GIT with a large variety of bacteria, most of which are obligate anaerobes. The composition of this complex microbiota is not completely known at present, although new achievements have been made in recent times with the advances in metagenomic technologies (Cani and Delzenne 2011; Turroni et al. 2012).
