ABSTRACT
Introduction An initial ultrasound pregnancy examination of the recipient mare is usually performed 4 to 7 days after transfer, which usually corresponds to an embryo age of 11 to 14 days. The advantage of an early pregnancy examination (i.e. 4 days after transfer) is that the donor mare can be managed appropriately as she is coming back into heat based on the presence or absence of a pregnancy in the recipient mare.
