ABSTRACT

When a franchise restaurant unit is available for business, it is available for prospective franchisees to start requesting franchise packages as well as application forms. The information provided by the franchisor is very important since it provides the fi rst impression of the franchisor. Most of the

information is obtained from websites or other media. The more established a franchise is, the more there is interest to secure a franchise. The response can therefore be overwhelming for brand name franchises. Some prospective franchisees may also call the franchisor to seek additional information. In order to streamline the requests, most franchisors have recorded telephone lines giving information about which regions are available or not available for franchising. Some franchisors would prefer that the inquirer leave information for future response. Since this is the fi rst impression that is provided by the franchisor, the responses should be very carefully planned. This is a very important and critical step for both franchisor and franchisees. This chapter describes the application process and the contents of the franchise package.
