ABSTRACT
This chapter deals with the effects of heat and actinic (i.e., ultraviolet and visible range) radiation on acrylic fibers. The controlled use of high temperature to form carbon fibers from acrylics [1, 2] is beyond the scope of this discussion, except insofar as it may offer clues to degradation and stabilization mechanisms under less extreme conditions.
