ABSTRACT
A good understanding of amino cross-linking resins and reaction mechanisms is essential when considering a catalyst. Often, para-toluene sulfonic
acid (p-TSA), a strong sulfonic acid, is selected without much consideration of the type of amino cross-linking agent used. However, under certain conditions, it is not uncommon to achieve more efficient catalysis with much weaker acids. Hence, the general notion that stronger acids produce the fastest cross-linking reaction rates does not always apply.
