ABSTRACT

Infrared Radiation (IR) sensors are provided in the advanced control systems for image analysis and detection of burn out lines (e.g., Takatsudo et al. 1999, Manca and Rovaglio 2002. DIAS Infrared GmbH publication, Keller et al. 2007, Matthes et al. 2012). In firing processes for the waste or biomass incineration, camera systems are used for different measurement tasks. Cameras in the VIS range are applied for fixed bed or flue gas burnout monitoring in waste incineration plants. IR cameras with a bandpass filter at 3.9µm are used for the measurement of solid bed temperature distribution because flames are almost transparent at this spectral range.
