ABSTRACT

Chapter 9, “Mobile Standards,” went into great depth and detail about the history of mobile, including that of its weaponization. It did not, however, make any mention of criminalization of mobile. We thought we would save that for the chapter where it belongs, which is here. Aside from criminal matters, there have been several very inuential decisions regarding the relevance of cell phones in civil matters. As of 2014, cell phone forensics is no longer the “new kid” on the block that it was a decade ago. Ten years ago, the primary challenge in cell phone forensics was nding a connector that would allow you to connect to the cell phone that you had, which may be a model that you had neither heard of nor ever seen previously.
