ABSTRACT

Hopefully, the human factors and ergonomic deficiencies and lack of standardization of handgun features affecting safety, along with protective devices to prevent inadvertent firing, will be addressed in the design of future firearms. However, except for some limited retrofits, ergonomic safety problems with the design of the thousands of handguns already in use will remain unresolved. Given this reality, the only practical solution is to resort to the human factors/ergonomics technology of training.
