ABSTRACT
Some fibers synapse in the paravertebral ganglion. The unmyelinated postganglionic fibers reenter the spinal nerve (forming the gray rami communicantes) to form the sympathetic component of the peripheral nerves. The distribution of these fibers does not strictly correspond to their radicular level, since the lateral column does not extend throughout the entire spinal cord.
