ABSTRACT

Under the title of “segmental vertebral cellulotenoperiosteomyalgic syndrome” (SVCPMS), we describe a group of palpable modifications of the texture and sensitivity of the soft tissues — cutaneous (cellulalgia), muscular taut bands, with or without trigger points, and tenoperiosteal (in relation to a segmental spinal dysfunction). These manifestations are localized to a constant territory for a given spinal segment. Clinically, this territory correlates well with that of the corresponding nerve root, but at some levels, the cellulalgia extends beyond this area, and a cellulalgic zone can be common to two or three adjacent spinal segments.
