Role of the Project Manager The project manager’s primary role during the project execution phase, assuming that the cost and duration of each work package have been properly estimated, is to establish and communicate the instrumental control limits for each work package. In addition, the project manager must monitor work package performance against these limits. The project manager will also need to periodically evaluate the total project performance and forecast final project cost and duration.
