ABSTRACT

A Julian date file is 366 manila folders labeled with consecutive Julian date stickers. Because the Julian date without the year notation is the same each year, the files can be labeled as 001-366 and reused each year. Placed in a file cabinet or two in numerical order, the files act as repositories for all documents pertaining to each individual day’s activity. The production and quality control documents generated on that particular day should be placed in this file, as well as product inspection documents; microbiological and other lab testing records; quality control e-mail; hold, release, and destruction notices; customer complaints; shipping and receiving documents and inspections; and other papers. Any record that pertains to the particular day should be placed in this file as a central repository for storage and future reference.
