ABSTRACT
The reason that EJC bids often omit the fire barriers is because they are very expensive. As a result, architects and general contractors will regularly abandon the prefabricated fire barrier in favor of a more cost-effective firerated assembly such as stuffing fire safing into the gap (Figure 13.2).
