ABSTRACT

There are many varieties of windows. The most common windows in commercial construction are set in rectangular aluminum frames. These aluminum framed systems are typically known as storefront windows when they are less than about 15 feet high and as curtain walls when they are over about 15 feet high. The distinction between these terminologies is that because curtain walls are tall they will require significant structural steel within the aluminum frame, whereas storefronts are self supporting by their aluminum frame alone.
