ABSTRACT

Even though there are an infinite number of possible detailed approaches to master planning, there are some general categories of approach or typical types of plans that can be described. For each type, there are typical steps and concerns specific to that type of plan. Because of the great variability in approach and objectives, a detailed discussion of sediment transport, channel stability, and geomorphic analysis will not be covered in this chapter. The reader is referred to Barfield, Warner, and Haan (1985), Simons, Li & Associates (1982), ASCE (1977), Hydraulic Engineering Center (1977b), U.S. COE (1989), or Simons and Senturk (1977) for more information.
