ABSTRACT
The detailed knowledge of the properties of biomolecules and their interactions, as we have described them in Part II of this book, is a necessary but not a sufficient step to understand biological systems. The next step is to understand how the different molecular components interact in concert and how they build up the hierarchy observed in biological systems: cellular compartments, cells, organs and organisms.
