ABSTRACT

Several of the regulatory documents referenced in Chapter 1 suggest the inclusion of “a measure of blood clotting time/potential” for toxicology studies. These documents do not specify the tests, so that many laboratories may elect to measure platelet counts and at least one measure of clotting potential-either prothrombin time or activated partial thromboplastin time-to meet these guidelines. In this chapter several additional tests are described that may be used in conrmatory or investigational studies.
