ABSTRACT

We assume there is no consultation among the players before the cuts. Suppose we ask Tom to cut an existing piece into what he considers halves, which Dick would judge to be in the ratio of 2 : 1. It is clear this couldn't always be done even if Tom had full information on both measures. If we assumed that every player had full a priori knowledge of the measure of every other player, the context of the problem would change from a combinatorial/game theory setting to a more measure theoretic setting in which stategic cutting might add another dimension to the problem.
