ABSTRACT
Up to this point, we have looked only at problems where players are to receive equal shares. Suppose Ann and Beth are to divide leftover cake, but because Beth had a larger piece yesterday they are to divide the remainder of the cake in the ratio 8 : 5. Can we find a way to guarantee Ann 8/13 of the cake and Beth 5/13 by their own assessments? Our first attempts might try to utilize what we know already for equal shares, and in fact an easy solution can be found using any of our algorithms for simple fair division.
