ABSTRACT

A simple numerical result, such as 30.35% copper, for example, may convey the wrong impression to the reader if the analytical precision is not included. The precision must always be given whenever any analytical results are presented. The mere fact that the answer (30.35% copper) is written with numerical information in the hundredths place in no way assures the reader that such precision is obtainable nor does it reassure the reader that a subsequent measurement will produce the same results.
