ABSTRACT

This chapter ties together the Babington Smith paired comparison model (Section 5.5), Bradley-Terry/Mallows (BTM) (Section 5.5.1), Mallows' t/J model (Section 5.4), the Fligner and Verducci t/Jcomponent model (Section 5.6.2), the orthogonal contrast t/J models (Section 5.10.2), and the inversion models of McCullagh (1993a). All but the last are exponential family models based on statistics that are sums of paired comparisons I[y; > Yi]'s or I[w; > Wj]'s. The inversion model extends the paired comparisons to triples, quadruples, etc.
