ABSTRACT

In spite of the great importance of knowledge and their media of storage in effective and efcient hospital processes, these resources are often lost from the hospital through such factors as rotation and movement of workers, cost savings, or incorrectly prepared documentation. It also happens that the hospital is not aware of having a part of the knowledge acquired during years of activity (Chase 1998). Knowledge that is disordered and difcult to locate impedes access to it and the use of it in the process of treatment and patient care, which, in turn, translates negatively to the work of individual employees, teamwork, and, thus, the quality and correctness of the whole process.
