ABSTRACT
Peer review occurs when colleagues advise and comment on another’s work. ey may be invited to comment, as when asked for help, or an article is assessed for publication in a learned journal. ey may comment anyway, as when questioning presented work at a clinical meeting, or when consulted in a medicolegal situation. Quality assurance (QA) ensures delivery of treatment that has been planned. ere are dierent QA tools for dierent items that are being measured. Peer review, on the other hand, can be dicult to measure. A positive system for the delivery of peer review can have a benecial impact on attitudes toward teamwork and patient care that lasts beyond treatment-related outcomes.
