ABSTRACT

Another benet to generating these results it that, aer a critical mass of results have been collected over many sites, it becomes obvious which errors can be attributed to imperfections in beam modeling (which can be repaired) and what degree of error is inherent in the imperfect TPS methods. e plan quality metric may be important for two reasons: (1) by requiring challenging plan goals, the complexity of beam modulation is ensured institution-to-institution; and (2) a database could prove valuable in assessing the capabilities of TPS optimization algorithms (TPS vs. TPS and/or optimization parameters vs. optimization parameters). A database such as this carries vital information to help the TPS vendors improve their soware products and providing feedback to suppliers is a hallmark of a good quality system.
