ABSTRACT

Acceptance testing involves radiation safety measurements, assessing the accuracy, precision, and reproducibility of mechanical systems, testing the congruence of laser localization systems with the mechanical and imaging isocenter, quantifying image quality, and testing other ancillary localization and patient monitoring devices. ese measurements validate whether CT performance meets vendor specications and the clinical demands

of CT simulation. Commissioning involves specic measurements that permit CT images to be used for virtual simulation and dose calculations. Commissioning would include testing data transfer and integrity, establishing site-specic imaging protocols, measuring a relative electron density curve for dose calculation purposes, and setting quality assurance procedures prior to clinical release.
